The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

After Graduation & MBA I paid my dues to Uncle Sam with 4 years, 9 months and 18 days of service in the US Army. Than on to Corning Glass Works in marketing and strategic planning roles. Corning did a joint venture with Genentech which I than ran during the startup and for next twelve years. Became the largest industrial biotechnology company during this period. Daughter Gwen graduated from high school and attended Penn State 92-96 in Hotel Management. Married (Donna Caley) in 92 and moved to San Diego and joined UCSD as COO for their entrepreneur program known as UCSD CONNECT. Became CEO of Epicyte Pharmaceutical to manufacture antibodies in plants next. My last gig was on the "dark side" as a Venture Capitalist with 10X Greenhouse Ventures a combination angel investor - venture fund. Donna and I recently retired to a resort style community on the central coast, learning to play golf, meeting new friends, walking the dunes, and sampling local wines. We travel to Pittsburgh frequently to play with the grand kids, sail our boat out of Ventura, use our RV trailer mostly in the west, and occasionally travel overseas. This year it is Patagonia. Thus all is well. I truly appreciate the life skills I got while attending Penn State both academic and nonacademic. I hope to join up with some of my fraternity brothers from Alpha Chi Sigma now that time is on my side.
